For a Holiday treat I ventured north to Cheyenne, Wyoming to visit a somewhat new and really awesome LFS. They are settled in now and their tanks are looking great. Well, you may find a bit of algae here and there and some of the plants are struggling, but the fish look great. The selection of livebearers and other popular fish is the best I’ve seen, rivaling About Fish in Denver. The other kewl aspect to this LFS is the new and hard to find fish they have. I even saw plants I had never seen before.

The LFS I feature today is Tropical Treasures Wyo LLC (TTW) and it is important to note the state since we have an LFS of the same name in Colorado Springs. The stores are vastly different! TTW has been working out of their home and just recently ventured out to a brick and mortar location. The address is 190 S College Dr Unit D, Cheyenne, WY 82007. The listed hours are Monday thru Thursday, 10 AM–7 PM, Friday & Saturday  10-5PM, Closed on Sundays. They are Closed Wed and Thursday this week for Christmas and I suspect the same next week for the New Year.

The front room is dedicated to all the things an aquarist needs in hardscape and supplies with a row of tanks along the walls for fish and plants. The large majority of the fish and plants are in the back room. A new wooden rack greets you as you enter the store, mostly for aquarium supplies. Eight tanks of plants with fish are just to the right as you walk in and there are four more on the far wall with both plants and snails. Aquascaping supplies are spread along the wall both under tanks and in dedicated racks for the rock. The selection of supplies are extensive and include Aquarium Coop products. On the left wall are two display tanks, the first one with rainbowfish looks really great, although they had a tank in front of it waiting to be picked up which spoiled the view. The giant 280 gallon display next to the front desk is quite impressive and hides the check out area. Beyond this there’s a centrally located island of tanks with shrimp. This transitions into the back room with six rows of tanks. I guesstimate about 160 tanks! The selection covers most any fish you would be interested in, livebearers, nanofish, catfish, cichlids, and a few monster fish. The nanofish selection is especially nice. The prices are competitive retail so even though the fish are uncommon the prices are not. This LFS is worth making a dedicated trip, IMHO (which is just what I did). My thanks to Daphne and her family (owners) for making a wonderful LFS!
