Denver LFS Crawl

As we move into summer, the Denver LFS are in cruise mode. This is typically the slower time of year because most folks are out and about. Though I must say the summer heat has me staying inside most of the time. All this said, I did a four fish store tour yesterday and things are looking good if not a bit quiet. Aqua Rocks Colorado was my first stop and as you can see, they specialize in Aquascaping. Now days they carry everything any aquarist would need. The fish are beautiful and the plants dazzling. Please do yourself a favor and visit this LFS soon. A stroll around the store will give you all sorts of ideas for an awesome aquarium setup. For more on this LFS search my blog for past articles on them.

The next stop took me to About Fish, the premier LFS in the Denver Metro. For anyone halfway serious about aquariums and fish keeping this is another must see store. It’s a bit tight navigating around the store, though well worth it. They have so many beautiful fish it is hard picking the one for your tank. The staff is more than helpful and probably the best support you will find anywhere in the Metro. Ask them anything aquarium related and I bet they have a good answer.

Moving on from here and after a lunch break I stopped in at Fish Den. This LFS is a staple of the Denver fish stores. Not only have they been around for over 30yrs, they do a wonderful job of offering anything a hobbyist might need and then some. This is the only LFS in the state who keeps a selection of tanks to fit any desire. A whole room full of them! This includes lids and such. If you don’t see it, just ask. Now I am sad to say this visit is not all wonderful. A few of the tanks look awful and the plant section was stripped, though it looks like they are awaiting a new shipment. Personally I would not buy plants here. On the other hand, I have purchased fish here many times. If you’re looking for Goldfish they have a wonderful selection. All the common fish are well kept here. The saltwater room in the back looks very nice and they have Sharks! Again, not my first choice for saltwater aquaria but certainly a good choice for those in the NW of Denver.

My crawl ended with another of the staple LFS in the west of Denver. Golden Fish specializes in cichlids and has only a small sampling of other species like corydoras and livebearers. In the past I have been happy with the fish I got here. It is still a good place to visit when in the area.

Next time you are working on a tank build or just in the need to get out, visit your local LFS or maybe even go on a fish crawl to LFS’s around the state, Colorado has a long list of options which you will find on this blog site. Thanks for reading!
