While this blog may be out of the scope of this website, many of us travel to WY often and having a resource along the road can be fun and rewarding. At least it is for me. I love visiting LFS’s most anywhere. So, let me tell you about my trip to Cheyenne where in the past I featured another LFS, which is now regretfully closed, though they are attempting to get things together so they can re-open. The name of that LFS is Aqua-Stop LLC. Link is at the bottom of this blog.

The LFS I feature today is Tropical Treasures Wyo LLC (TTW) and it is important to note the state since we have an LFS of the same name in Colorado Springs. The stores are vastly different! TTW has been working out of their home and just now ventures out to a brick and mortar location. The address is 190 S College Dr Unit D, Cheyenne, WY 82007. It may be hard to find simply because they only have a small sign in the window and the old business sign is quite prominent over the door. They assure me they are working on this and hope to have the new sign in place soon. Google maps works well in finding this LFS, so look hard though the window and you’ll see your in the right place. I will tell you they are in the end unit of the building.

Upon entering the building the size of the place is the first thing I noticed. The front room is dedicated to all the things an aquarist needs beside the fish which are in the back room. Eight tanks of plants are just to the right as you walk in and there are four more on the far wall with both plants and snails. Aquascaping supplies are spread along the wall both under tanks and in dedicated racks for the rock. The selection of supplies are extensive and include Aquarium Coop products. See my pictures below for an idea of what all they offer. I picked up a GreenPleco.com plushy as they had many to choose from. It is something I had been considering for a long time. On the left wall are two display tanks, the first one with rainbowfish appeared to have just been set up as it was just a bit cloudy. The giant 280 gallon display next to the front desk is quite impressive and hides the check out area. Beyond this there’s a centrally located island of tanks with shrimp. This transitions into the back room with six rows of tanks. I guesstimate about 160 tanks! Not all of them have fish yet, but most do. The selection covers most any fish you would be interested in, livebearers, nanofish, catfish, cichlids, and a few monster fish. Many of the fish are uncommon for a LFS, though they do have the common ones also. The nanofish selection is especially nice. Remember, you can always ask them to order you any fish they don’t have in stock. The prices are competitive retail so even though the fish are uncommon the prices are not.

Next time you visit Cheyenne, go check out this LFS. It is even worth making a dedicated trip, IMHO. If you are looking for something specific call first to make sure they have it. As time goes on I am sure they will get things buttoned up and the store will be even better than what I saw today. One recommendation to the owner; put a 2 way gate on the rows with the back of the tanks and do some cable management. A sign saying "employees only" will direct the customers around this and they can see the fish at their best in the front of the tank. My congrats to Daphne and her family (owners) for making a wonderful LFS!
