About Fish 2025

If you have not experienced About Fish, then your Fish life is sadly wanting. This is a classic LFS and the store is done about as good as it can be. While the isles are long and narrow, the stock selection is second to none. Perhaps there are better places to find a tank, and if you’re into aquascaping there are stores with better selection of hardscape. What this LFS does best is right in the name, About Fish!

In each tank they go for at least 3 types of fish, a bottom feeder, a mid-zone fish, and a surface dweller. This is the way a good aquarium is set up. So take your time as you venture around the store, stopping at each column of tanks. Look them over carefully and you’ll discover a wide array of fish species. The writing on the tank is not always correct, so eventually you will need to find someone to help with identifying and bagging your selections. This again is another area where this LFS excels.

The staff are experienced and knowledgeable. I like to ask a lot of questions so I can best care for the fish I am buying. No matter what fish you are looking for they will probably have it or can get it. Say you keep cichlids, this LFS has the best selection in the state and this is saying a lot. Cichlids are popular fishy pets, so most any fish store will have them, just not in this wide a selection. One thing I have found is there are always certain “popular” fish and About Fish will probably have them, though their stock does vary over the months. If you wish to know the latest fish they have follow them on Facebook or look at their website. As far as pricing goes they are competitive, sometimes the cheapest, but not always. The last topic I will cover is quality, I’ve gotten some of my best fish here at About Fish. Rarely do I have any of their fish die on me like from other sources. Experiences may vary, so no guarantee. Knowing how to acclimate and care for your fishy pets is always important. Ask if you don’t know, in fact, ask even if you think you know, ask.
