The best LFS is the one closest to you, unless you’re looking for something specific or rare and they don’t carry it. If you’ve read over this blog you may have noticed that the LFS’s in Colorado tend to be either specific or all-in-ones. Some attempt to compete with big box stores with varying levels of success, while others specialize and go way beyond what a box store can offer. I invite you to read over the list of LFS in Colorado and then find the corresponding blogs about them. Every blog will have photos and a review of the store. The blogs about the Best LFS’s may be a good place to start. It really does depend on what you are looking for. We have great saltwater specialty stores as well as a few excellent freshwater only stores. The ones who do both vary in how good they are. Also please know most LFS’s get new fish and stock in on Thursday’s so they will be ready for the weekend rush which often includes Fridays and Mondays. Going on a Tuesday or Wednesday will likely mean the store will be picked over and have light stocking of livestock. Since we are going into the holiday season, it is likely this will be even more true.

As far as specials and shopping this holiday season I recommend you go to the store’s website or Facebook page. I have noticed anything unusual, so I will leave it to you. I do expect most LFS’s will have some sort of special going on this holiday season. Google maps works well for finding contact info, websites and open times.

If you have a specific store you would like more info on or think they need to be featured again, please let me know by using the contact page on this website. As I age, I am not getting out as much, so thanks for your patience. I truly pray this blog is of service to the Aquarists of Colorado and any visiting hobbyists. Thanks for stopping by.

ps. I wish you a Blessed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
